Before you ever visit the continent of Antarctica, you imagine it being this desolate, lifeless environment. While its desolation may be accurate, life is abundant on the continent. With penguin rookeries stretching into the hundreds of thousands, dotted all over the peninsula, seals on what seems like very other iceberg floating by, birds, and whales, Antarctica is proof that life will press on and survive in some of the harshest environments imaginable. This group of penguins sitting on their nests seemed nearly oblivious to us as we laid in the snow for an hour watching their behavior.
